Subject: Application note to share

Hi Ke,

Just wanted to share something from an application I received today. For “How did you learn about the Chinese Flagship,” Veronica Butler from Tates Creek High in Lexington wrote:

“My initial experience with WKU’s Chinese Language Flagship Program was while attending a Chinese immersion residential camp at Asbury University, hosted by KACLT and STARTALK. During the summer of 2022, before my junior year of high school, I attended the two-week residential camp where high school students participated in cultural activities and took college-level Chinese classes taught by WKU professors. I was a part of Professor Li's Chinese 201 class. While at the program, I spoke with several WKU students, serving as teaching assistants, who shared their experiences with the Chinese Flagship Program and studying Chinese in college. Prior to attending the camp, I was not sure whether I would continue my Chinese studies after high school or what opportunities WKU had to offer, but the experience solidified my desire to pursue Chinese in college and introduced me to the possibility of studying abroad with WKU's Chinese Flagship Program.”

How exciting!

Melinda
